Where Are The Best Blogging Communities

I would think (hope) that there will be lots of answers to this question.

Across the internet and blogosphere, it seems there are some networks and platforms that are much more than what they appear; but sometimes you only get to know about these if you are a member of the platform or community itself. That stands to reason, because really how can you be a part of a community without being an active participant in it in some way—either as a frequent visitor or fellow blogger?

Community Magnets

Community MagnetsNevertheless, it seems some places tend to create more of a community than others. The more time I spend looking around Blogger blogs, the more I think that Blogger is one of those spaces. There is always a web weaving from one blog to another (a web that often provides me with many of the subsequent blogs for review). The more I review, the more I find these links looping back upon each other—and no, not always from their original spots. In fact, I’m surprised at the frequency of coming back to a blog weeks after the fact from a seemingly unrelated blog.

Sometimes it is the network that really builds that sense of community across interests—b5 media comes to mind once again. Of course, the best bloggers are masters at this, since community really is what blogs are all about.

It does seem, though, for whatever reason, that some places build communities more easily than others. Who knows why that may be (although if you have an idea—do share!). Being that blogging is as much about the people as the topic, it’s an interesting subject to explore. It’s also a great idea to share those places that do attract a sense of community. I’d very much like to hear where you find the best blog-related communities to be.

What Do You Think?

Comment below, and tell us, where are the best blog communities on the web (platform, network, or singular blog—anything goes!)?

Category: Investing, Trading, Blog Networks

Trader Planet

Trader Planet is our second highlighted blog network; but Trader Planet (which happens to be home to the Trading Advice Blog) is more than a blog network, it is an entire online social network dedicated to trading and investing. It is a growing community of traders from all walks of investing life, built with the purpose of educating others to the reality and possibility of the world’s trade markets.

Trader Planet – Why You Should Go

Trader Planet is a well-designed site with a clear purpose and intention as an “…online community that is dedicated to teaching individuals how to trade world markets.”

They explain their mission in this way:

“Understanding stock trading is an intense and lifelong process – Experienced and successful traders often spend their entire careers learning about the market. No matter how successful those traders may become, there is always more to learn and new opportunities to take advantage of. The information available to you, as a beginning trader, can be daunting and confusing, with many beginning stock and commodities traders giving up without ever really trying to master the art. However, if you take the time to pour through that information and apply what is learning from the most credible sources, you can significantly increase the odds of making money by trading the world’s markets. TraderPlanet.com’s objective is to make the learning process a little easier.”

Summing Up Trader Planet

Trader Planet offers a wealth of information for new and seasoned traders alike. It also has a number of ready resources. A welcoming community for all with an interest in trading, the network shows its dedication to the greater good not only through its information sharing, but also through its featured Charity of the Month. Give Trader Planet a try if you’ve an interest in investment blogging, or if you are looking for new resources for your own personal trading use.

The Prosperity Blog

Kimmy B. is a blogger dedicated to helping others achieve happiness and prosperity. Her Prosperity Blog is a fresh voice in the motivation and life balance arena, offering great promise of even more great things to come.

The Prosperity Blog – Why You Should Go

Kimmy B‘s blog is a lot like many other great motivational blogs, and a lot unlike, them, too. She takes a very holistic approach to prosperity, understanding it to be not simply financial or spiritual, but all-encompassing.

“The prosperity blog is about helping you living a holistically prosperous lifestyle. Prosperity is not only about wealth; it’s also about the affects of wealth and what you do with it. A prosperous lifestyle includes financial security but it also includes good health, the ability to spend quality time with your loved ones and so much more. I blog about holistic prosperity because all areas of prosperity affect one another. For example, if your health is not good, this may affect your ability to work and create financial prosperity. Balancing your life and living prosperously takes practice but it is possible.”

One of the most endearing qualities of Kimmy and her blog is her forthrightness. She is very open with her readers, not shying from baring her own soul and experiences to really prove that obstacles can be overcome. This she couples with a number of excellent resources and initiatives, including her own LiteracyRich project for women.

Summing Up The Prosperity Blog

Kimmy’s blog is young, but promising. She offers much reliable information, served with enough personality and openness to make this a very welcoming blog community in its own right. Join in now and don’t miss a beat of the many great things to come at Kimmy’s blog.

Lest We Forget…Thanks And Gratitude

For Americans, this is a week all about giving thanks (Thanksgiving being celebrated today, November 27, for those of you who do not know). It’s a time when we all look back, remember our roots, and give thanks for all that we have, and all that came to pass to provide that to us. In all honesty, it’s something we should all be doing every day…living a life of gratitude and thanks.

In The Spirit Of Thanksgiving

Giving ThanksIn this spirit I, too, would like to show my thanks; my thanks to Sean Rasmussen for creating this blog and inviting me in to contribute to it, and my thanks for each and every reader who comes and adds to it. So many of you have done that in so many ways, and continue to do so with your ongoing presence, comments, and suggestions.

In that spirit, I would also like to take the opportunity to remind you all that we are always looking for ways to give back to all of you—to show our thanks in our own way. One of the ways we do that is by encouraging an open dialogue; another is by inviting you to share with us the opportunity to pay it back to you in the form of blog reviews.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, this blog is our contribution to the blogosphere. But it does no good without great blogs to review! And so we invite you once again to remind us of the many fine blogs we may be missing (hey, it’s a big internet out there!). Please take this time and our thanks and leave a link to all the deserving blogs you know and love—and that includes yours! No need to be shy, you should be proud of your efforts and blogging achievements, and we’d like nothing better than to show that we appreciate your time and interest by allowing us to repay the favor!

To all of you and yours, no matter where in the world you may be today, a very Happy Thanksgiving.

York Daily Photo

Hearing about life in a place is one thing, seeing it is quite another. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words, and this photo blog shows life in York, North Yorkshire, UK in ways no words ever could.

York Daily Photo – Why You Should Go

One of the gifts of blogging, one we continue to celebrate here at Digg It, is that it can take you around the world and back in a matter of minutes. And while we so enjoy reading about living in faraway places, we love to see them, too. So it is with great appreciation that we enjoy blogs like Ruby‘s York Daily Photo, completing the vision.

The blog itself is as you would expect, a photo journal of life in and around York, and also of places along Ruby’s travels. Ruby is keen to describe a bit about the pics, too, and share just enough to construct a quick, easy, enjoyable post and read to accompany her impressive photos.

Summing Up York Daily Photo

The foundation is simple, the photos are wonderful, the company friendly and informative. There’s not a lot else to ask from a blog, but this blog delivers it all. Stop by for the scenery and stay for a short chat.

Real Words On The Street

The Policeman’s Blog

People have all manner of opinions regarding the police and their work; many of these will depend on which side of the law you find yourself on, or your exposure to them. There will always be those who disdain anyone related to “coppers” (as the author affectionately refers to himself), and those with nothing but the utmost respect for law enforcement. And then there are those who maintain an ounce of fear related to the power the police wield, despite their respect for them. Before you make your conclusions, though, it might help to get to know a bit about the real life of the police on the streets.

The Policeman’s Blog – Why You Should Go

A very simple reason to go is that this blog provides a look into the field of police work in a way no assumption could do justice. The blog offers a unique look into the life of real, live police officers in the UK and Canada. It also shares insights from around the world as the author frequently imparts interesting tidbits and comparisons with his colleagues.

Adding a healthy dose of entertainment to the mix, the blog is written with humor and some [understandable] cynicism, as witnessed in the introduction to the blog.

“A Journey into the mad, mad world of the British underclass and the public sector, where nothing is too insane for it to be written down and copied in triplicate. VIEWS EXPRESSED PROBABLY DON’T REFLECT OFFICIAL POLICY. “This blog will do more to put people off calling the police than anything, other than actually calling the police” (PC David Copperfield.) This blog is written by and accepts submissions from serving and former police officers and concerned MOPs.”

Summing Up The Policeman’s Blog

The Policeman’s Blog is a rare opportunity to see life through the eyes of the men and women on the streets. Love them or hate them, law enforcement serves a very high function in all of our societies, and they deserve to at least have their voices heard, or read.

Around Roanoke – A Daily Photo

We’ve had photos from France and photos from England, and today we are treated to the daily photos of the Roanoke, Virginia, USA area.

Around Roanoke – A Daily Photo – Why You Should Go

Around Roanoke is the photographical hobby of Tanya Breese, a mother of four who has slowly progressed from one U.S. coast to another, starting out in Southern California and landing in Roanoke, Virginia and the apparent dream life in the home of her dreams. As Virginia is her now home-base, it is the base for her daily photo-blog.

On it, she shares unique and interesting visions of the local area and life in general, tinged with an historical air. In addition to the photos Tanya lends a little story and often a piece of Virginia’s history to go along with appropriate pics. It would appear that history is another of Tanya’s loves, as she also maintains a family genealogy blog based on the Breese family name, along with a multitude of others that intersect with it (could it be that one of them is yours?)

Summing Up Around Roanoke – A Daily Photo

Around Roanoke is another blog that lends the opportunity to see a place through a local’s eyes. Come and enjoy the sites, and sit down for a story and a bit of history. Who knows what you might see or learn?

A Thyme For Everything

Thyme For Cooking

It’s been a while since we’ve reviewed a food and cooking blog, which is primarily what drew me to Thyme For Cooking when first I came across it. What drew me in, well, that was something different.

Thyme For Cooking – Why You Should Go

From the name, you might expect Thyme for Cooking to be an online recipe book of sorts; and if that is what you go looking for you will not be disappointed in the least. Not only does the blog offer up a new mouth-watering recipe by the day—complete with pictures—but it also comes complete with a parent website of the same name dedicated to healthy, delicious, easy daily menu planning.

However, the real surprise of the blog is the one-two punch that it packs. It is written by Katherine Lerum Zeller, an expat who has spent the last 10 years abroad in Ireland, Andorra, and now France, collecting as many stories as she has recipes—possibly more. Each post is preceded by an amusing and entertaining story, which ends, quite naturally, with the dish of the day.

Summing Up Thyme For Cooking

Katherine’s blog delivers everything you’d expect to find and so much more. Come share your love of food, cooking, and good story-telling with Katherine as she moves around the world and collects more food for thought.
