My Nature Adventures

Joyce Emor is a Filipino with a passion for travel and the outdoors. Her blog, My Nature Adventures, is where she gives voice to her adventures, journaling each and every one as she island-hops around the Philippine Islands near and dear to her.

My Nature Adventures – Why You Should Go

Joyce‘s first love is life. To her, that love means exploring every natural wonder she can gain access to. In her off time she travels the different islands enjoying the natural and man-made wonders, carefully chronicling them. She provides a first-hand account, complete with photos, which in effect serves as both an adventure journal and an excellent resource for anyone with similar interests, or an interest in the many places the Philippines has to offer. She visits both main-stream destinations and places far removed from the beaten path, and in so doing delivers profiles of many treasures that might otherwise go left unfound.

Joyce describes her adventure destinations as

“Exotic beaches and places, less traveled places, total nature adventure, and a whole lot more! I am really fascinated with nature. Actually I love adventures.”

Summing Up My Nature Adventures

Joyce’s Filipino nature adventures are only the beginning. She has a dream of pursuing natural adventures all over the world, one that we hope she achieves and continues to share. Join Joyce to learn more about her corner of the world, and watch it as it continues to grow.

Imaginif

Imaginif…it’s the simple statement that precedes every effort at the blog that bears the name. In itself, it is a compelling statement. Combined with the rest of what’s going on at Imaginif and its parent site, it is a powerful statement indeed.

Imaginif – Why You Should Go

Imaginif is the blogging extension of Australian therapist Megan Bayliss‘s website, also named Imaginif. The website and the blog center on primarily two initiatives that stand strongly together and alone, but in the end go hand in hand.

“Imaginif…personal development and child community protection were serious business”

For Megan, it is. Megan has leveraged her experience as a parent and her experience in social work and therapy to develop an innovative program to empower children and keep them safe. She has coupled that with an innovative work at home program, one which she invites everyone to participate in. The icing on the cake is her blogging and work in the realm of personal development—something you can benefit from on its own, or in combination with these other components.

Altogether Megan Bayliss is doing some very important work, work that we all need to be aware of as people who care for and about children (whether you are a parent or not). Her business also gives her a way to extend that important work far beyond her own scope. Whether you subscribe to the business end of her blog or not, there is more here that you need to know, and more that you can do to better the lives of children as you better yourself.

Summing Up Imaginif

Megan’s work and her blog create an interesting symbiosis of opportunity and awareness. It’s a whole lot of goodness all in one place, and an experience you need to have to fully understand it all. Take some time to explore Megan’s site and her blog, and see how much more you can do for yourself and young children everywhere.

Creative Juices Arts & Painting From The Wild Heart

Chris Zydel’s Creative Juices Arts & Painting From The Wild Heart blog is an extension of the life and profession she has dedicated herself to. Summarized, this might be described as the facilitation of free-expression and creativity. This is the work that she does through her creative arts studio in Oakland, California (USA), which she continues through her website, and now her blog.

Creative Juices Arts – Why You Should Go

“We are all naturally creative, and we all have something inside of us that is authentically ours, wanting to be expressed.

Whether this “something” is written, sung, painted, spoken, danced, or manifested through cooking, growing a business, raising a child, designing a home, building a guitar, or bringing an idea into the world, our creativity is one of the most unique and precious aspects of who we are.”

This is the foundation upon which Chris Zydel has built her work and her blog. Chris realizes not only that are we all creative beings, but also that too many of us are stifling that creativity and suffering for it. To correct the problem, Chris works as a counselor, instructor, and facilitator, working through art, offering classes, workshops, and retreats (including 3-day weekend intensives for non-residents). Chris’s blog is an extension of this work. It is a place to capture many of the benefits of an in-person experience, to learn from Chris, and to extend that learning if you are lucky enough to be one of Chris’s students.

Summing Up Creative Juices Arts

Whether or not you are lucky enough to ever experience one of Chris Zydel’s classes or workshops, there is plenty that you will find of benefit at her blog. Chris’s blog serves as a renewal and awakening of your creative spirit, poised to help you break down the barriers that prohibit you from fully experiencing the benefit of maximizing your creative soul.

Digital Immersions

Stephen Frink, author of Digital Immersions, has many credits to his name. He is Director of Photography for Scuba Diving magazine, a published author, and one of the most frequently published underwater photographers. He also runs his own self-named School of Underwater Digital Imaging, a work that serves largely as the base of his blog. With a resume like that, (and that’s just the beginning) it’s hard to imagine him having time to blog, too. But he does, and his craft is our gift at his Digital Immersions blog.

Digital Immersions – Why You Should Go

The resume sort of clears up this question, but to be more specific, Stephen‘s blog is first and foremost a place of education. He uses it in many ways as an extension of his imaging school as a way to reach out to a larger audience and share his tips and techniques with a more far-reaching crowd. If you’ve any interest in underwater photography, this is a blog for you.

That aside, this is a place to go even if you have no interest in ever snapping a single pic of the underwater world. As mentioned, Stephen is a true professional, and the blog is worth going back time and again just to enjoy the sites. The images Stephen captures are nothing short of amazing, and something few of us will ever have the fortune to experience.

Summing Up Digital Immersions

Stephen’s blog is worth your time, for all the reasons mentioned here. Go for the facts or go for the fun, but prepare to be entertained either way as you see things from this diver’s eye view.

Digital Photography School

Darren Rowse is probably best known for his ProBlogger blog, one that we’ve reviewed here before. Darren is a man of many talents, though, one of which is digital photography. That passion he shares for the benefit of us all at his Digital Photography School blog.

Digital Photography School – Why You Should Go

It’s not a formal school—there is no attendance taken, no punishment for being late, so newcomers are always welcome. The “school” is a blog that exists simply to help others make the most of their digital photography experiences. It grew from another site Darren maintained which focused largely on the cameras themselves. After many requests for tips and pointers, Darren decided to start this blog where he could focus on the kinds of information he was constantly being tapped for. Darren explains the blog and its intended audience in this way:

“I’m a digital photography enthusiast and while it’s not how I make my living (although I do pick up a few paying jobs) – I’m the guy in my friendship group and family that always seems to photograph the special occasions. I’m still learning and improving my photography but like to share what I’ve learnt so far.
Over the two years of that site I had a lot of emails from readers asking for tips on how to use their cameras and came to the conclusion that while there are many millions of digital cameras being bought each year around the world that a very large proportion of those that buy them could be using them to achieve better results…

…Some of you who are advanced digital camera users might find some of what is written on this site a little basic, but it’s the new to semi experienced digital camera owner that this site is aimed at. Having said this, even experienced users have already told me that reading the tips I’ve written have been helpful in refreshing their memories and reminding them of lessons once learned.”

Summing Up Digital Photography School

Darren Rowse’s Digital Photography Blog is an excellent place to go for any who wish to make more of their personal photography, regardless of your level of experience. Join Darren and pick up some great tips and easy fixes for creating ever-better digital photographs you’ll be proud to share.

Photos From Haninge

Photos from Haninge is another wonderful photoblog chronicling the life, people, and times of a small town in Haninge, Sweden (Södertörn, to be exact). This blog is the work of Steffe, our virtual host to life in small-town Sweden.

Photos From Haninge – Why You Should Go

Steffe is lucky to live in a place full of beauty—both natural and manmade. We are lucky that he has elected to share it with us in the form of his daily photo blog.

What is particularly inviting about Steffe’s blog is that it is one that depicts more of the daily life in Haninge, and not a blog based on tourism. Steffe really seems to capture living in Haninge, not just “the sites.” All of that, and he does it with unique, clear, inviting photos that showcase both his eye and his skill.

Summing Up Photos From Haninge

Steffe joins the ranks of photo bloggers dedicated to showcasing their homes in the way they really should be shown. He offers unique visions of his far-off place along with descriptions to help us get to know the sites and people of Haninge ever better.

Living And Learning In China

SinospliceWhere to Find Sinosplice:

Sinosplice

Sinosplice is the work of an American living abroad in China. It is the blog of John Pasden, an American teacher living abroad in China, sharing his life and the experience of being a stand-out in the Chinese crowd.

Sinosplice – Why You Should Go

John Pasden has been residing in China for more than eight years now, having moved there shortly after completing his language degrees in his native U.S. The blog started out at first as a way to stay in contact and constantly update his family, friends, and colleagues, but John was soon to learn that there was a broader interest in his blog as well. Today John’s blog is one among several other expat and related blogs, a growing network that John actively works to support.

Today John uses his blog more for enlightenment than for contact. His posts include many related to his work and experience as an English language teacher in China, and his efforts to become a truly fluent speaker of Mandarin Chinese (because as John says, “One can simply never get the clearest view of a house looking through the dirty window or observing what comes out of the house. You have to go in.”).

John’s hope for his site is to increase people’s awareness of the land and the culture in which he has immersed himself. It’s an experience few can truly relate, and so a level of understanding of the culture few can offer.

“If you have not lived overseas in a non-English-speaking country, it may be hard to understand the world of difference fluency in the language makes. Language is key to cultural understanding.”

“I hope that my site can provide you with some understanding of China and the Chinese language that other sites cannot. I won’t deny that it’s also a personal site, but let’s face it—being in China is a big part of who I am now, and any view I present of China here is inextricably tied to who I am as well.”

Summing Up Sinosplice

John Pasden is living a unique life, with no plans of changing it any time soon. That is fortunate for those of us just now finding his blog, as we still have time to learn from his unique perspective and experience.
