My Thinking Life

Blogger Hisham has developed a blog with a unique concept and spirit. It’s all about what’s on his mind and that of his readers and contributors, and it’s all good.

My Thinking Life – Why You Should Go

Hisham’s My Thinking Life blog is very much an open-concept blog. Its focus began loosely on any web-related topic, but quickly expanded beyond that. This is one of those blogs that does not have one narrow topical focus, but is a place for expression, development, contemplation, and learning on a larger level.

Hisham has only one goal for his blog, and that is to share knowledge. To that end he welcomes quality articles, guest posts, and tips and suggestions on a wide variety of subjects. You’ll never know what to expect next, but you can be sure that it will be interesting.

Perhaps Hisham explains his blog best in just these few words….

“… the purpose of it is sharing knowledge. It’s a captivating and sensitive mix of personal insights and international events. I hope you enjoy the stay…”

Summing Up My Thinking Life

Hisham has landed on a highly effective blog concept, one which has grown his blog into a truly global effort with an excellent community of support and participation.

In Cinq With Yourself

Where to Find In Cinq:
Blog URL: http://incinq.blogspot.com/
Category: Photography, Community Blogging

In Cinq

In Cinq is a very unique community blog project created by Adria Balgassi. Adria was inspired by her younger sister’s poem—a simple cinquain describing her father. She decided to go global with the concept via a self-portrait blog, and the result is In Cinq.

In Cinq – Why You Should Go

The concept for In Cinq is simple—people from around the world are invited to contribute self portraits, which are largely photographs but can also be sketches, paintings, etc. Along with it, contributors are required to include a simple cinquain describing themselves in nine words. You need not be a poet, the contributor guidelines are quite simple, with an interesting result.

The interesting result is a collection of portraits and snapshots of people from around the world, each being self-described in a concise and focused way. The concept appears to have taken off quite nicely, with contributions from seemingly every corner of the globe. From a reader perspective, this photoblog is interesting and entertaining, and a quick, easy read. The cinqpic format allows you to learn just enough about the contributor and/or his or her mood at the time, ad make up the rest of the story from the poem and the accompanying picture.

Summing Up In Cinq

Adria Balgassi’s inspiration in a child’s poem turned out to be quite an interesting blog project. Visit Adria’s project for some glimpses of life around the world, or contribute your own (anonymous contributions are accepted as well). It’s a unique pairing of the “visual and the literary” with a highly effective result.

Blogging With Success

Bloggers have an uncanny knack for coming up with names for their blogs that are so pointedly indicative of what they do, don’t they? In a world where people judge your worth in a matter of seconds, that’s a good thing. This blog is yet another example of a blog name that “says it all”; Blogging With Success is a blogging guide designed to help you start, manage, and take your blog to the highest possible levels, to see the best return on your blogging effort.

Blogging With Success – Why You Should Go

Blogging With Success is a fairly young blog, having been created in November of 2008, but it is very quickly proving its worth for bloggers (new or old). It is a blog full of tips, tricks, tutorials, and advice on every aspect of blogging, from design and promotion to connecting with the real-live people who read your blog. This is a team effort, currently with four bloggers contributing within their individual areas of blogging expertise and experience. This approach makes for a very well-rounded advice and tutorial blog, and offers insight for bloggers at all stages of the game, as the contributing writers are also all at different stages of blog growth. What’s even better is that the writing team hails from points around the globe (India, Indonesia, the USA, and the Philippines), so is representative of the true global nature of the blogosphere and the people participating in it.

“As a team of writers from various disciplines, we complement each other, providing greater coverage of blogging issues. Each contributor is in a different stage of their own blog’s life cycle. Located around the globe, they represent a cross-section of our readership.”

The blog is also a highly interactive place, very much in favor of action and participation, as noted on the About page and in the calls to action for comments and participation on the posts.

“Your time here will be well spent if you participate and contribute on more than a surface level. It’s a two way street. Get what you need from this blog and in return contribute so that others in the community can benefit from your success. We don’t want you ‘lurking’ around in some Google Reader. Ask your questions and share your skills right here in the city square.”

Summing Up Blogging With Success

Blogging With Success is a very well-designed blog in both form and function. New and “hot-topic” posts are easy to find with shortened versions and easy buttons for “more” and “comments” below each, so you can quickly click through to just the posts you are interested in. The diversity of the writers, their experiences, and their targeted, useful posts makes this blogging resource one that delivers more than most, putting real blogging tools in your hands, and then helping you learn how to use them. All in all, Blogging With Success delivers the goods and makes sure you know how to use them. This is a promising new blog packed full with great information already, with lots left to come.

Beating Scammers At Their Own Game

Where to Find HotScams.com:
Blog URL: http://www.hotscams.com/
Category: Personal Interests, Internet Technology

Hotscams.com

An extremely unfortunate side-effect of the internet is the ease of scamming honest people out of hard-earned cash or valuable personal information. Any effort at combating that plague is one that deserves attention, indeed. The efforts at Hotscams.com fall right inline.

Hotscams.com – Why You Should Go

Hotscams.com is a community blogging effort led primarily by Jay HS. Its aim is to collect and post on the ever-growing collection of scams circling the internet. This is a collective group effort to make this blog a place where people can come to find out if that email they received is in truth a scam, and how they avoid the most potentially dangerous online farces. There are also helpful resources including an Anti-Scam guide and informational articles aimed at helping you avoid being taken (including an oldie but goodie from our own Sean Rasmussen). The site covers topics in a wide variety of arenas, including online, business, ethics, and many, many more.

Summing Up Hotscams.com

The scammers out there are getting very good at their craft. That makes it increasingly difficult to tell a legitimate offer from a bogus attempt at getting into your personal or financial information. Hotscams pulls together the collective conscience of the better people online and gives us a fighting chance against those less scrupulous.

Where Are The Best Blogging Communities

I would think (hope) that there will be lots of answers to this question.

Across the internet and blogosphere, it seems there are some networks and platforms that are much more than what they appear; but sometimes you only get to know about these if you are a member of the platform or community itself. That stands to reason, because really how can you be a part of a community without being an active participant in it in some way—either as a frequent visitor or fellow blogger?

Community Magnets

Community MagnetsNevertheless, it seems some places tend to create more of a community than others. The more time I spend looking around Blogger blogs, the more I think that Blogger is one of those spaces. There is always a web weaving from one blog to another (a web that often provides me with many of the subsequent blogs for review). The more I review, the more I find these links looping back upon each other—and no, not always from their original spots. In fact, I’m surprised at the frequency of coming back to a blog weeks after the fact from a seemingly unrelated blog.

Sometimes it is the network that really builds that sense of community across interests—b5 media comes to mind once again. Of course, the best bloggers are masters at this, since community really is what blogs are all about.

It does seem, though, for whatever reason, that some places build communities more easily than others. Who knows why that may be (although if you have an idea—do share!). Being that blogging is as much about the people as the topic, it’s an interesting subject to explore. It’s also a great idea to share those places that do attract a sense of community. I’d very much like to hear where you find the best blog-related communities to be.

What Do You Think?

Comment below, and tell us, where are the best blog communities on the web (platform, network, or singular blog—anything goes!)?

Neatorama!

Where to Find Neatorama:
Blog URL: http://www.neatorama.com/
Category: Arts, Personal Interests

Neatorama

Neatorama is another community blogging effort of sorts, but one that is quite difficult to define. Nevertheless, as the title promises it’s a place of quirky interest that benefits from the contributions of its authors.

Neatorama – Why You Should Go

Neatorama is largely a collection of interesting and random things of interest. Many are works or art, some are spoofs and humorous pictures and digital media, and others are little known news posts and scientific discoveries. The blog is a wealth of diversity and discovery. These are things that have piqued the interest of their contributors, and will pique your curiosity, too, with many things you’d never have otherwise known existed.

Summing Up Neatorama

Neatorama has a long history and is still going strong, so there is no fear of a lack of interesting things to find at this blog. Join the fun and intrigue, learn some interesting things about the world you didn’t know, and have a general good time with the authors of Neatorama.

99 Bloggers Community BloggingWhere to Find 99 Bloggers:
Blog URL: http://99bloggers.com/
Category: Community Blogging

99 Bloggers

99 Bloggers is about anything and everything the contributors, a collection of bloggers from a variety of backgrounds and interests, want it to be. This blog, a cooperative effort of 99 community bloggers, is the child of creator Alphafoobar.

The premise behind 99 bloggers is simple and effective: Create a blog and allow the first 99 qualified bloggers to join and contribute as often as they like and in so doing gain exposure for the bloggers’ efforts while offering a blog with wide-ranging interests and information. In effect, 99 Bloggers is sort of a first place to go to look for information, a sort of one-stop shopping-experience to link you to more blogs and websites of interest. It certainly does bring more fun into social networking.

99 Bloggers – A Community Blog

99 Bloggers is worth a visit first for its unique concept and secondly for its wealth of information. It’s both a global community blogging effort that increases exposure to new people, concepts, and products, and a resource for finding the information you need.

It’s a mixed bag and you’ll never know what you’ll find at the top of the recent posts, but posts are logically categorized to make it easy to find the topics that are of most interest to you. Here’s a sampling of the types of posts that are up on 99 Bloggers now (be forewarned, though, something new and completely unique could pop up at any time!):

• Art
‚Ä¢ Blogs (logical…)
• Entertainment
• Design
• Gaming
• How-to
• Lifestyle
• Opinion
• Music & Movies
• Travel
• Technology
• Lots More! This list is by no means exhaustive!

99 Bloggers presents plenty of opportunity for both readers and contributing bloggers. Community blog members have yet another outlet for outreach (without the pressure of having to post daily) and readers get to learn about things they may not have been aware they needed to know.

Summing Up 99 Bloggers & Social Networking

Despite its unstructured topical approach, 99 Bloggers is a highly useful blog that takes advantage of a unique community approach to blogging & social networking. Current bloggers seem to have stayed true to the mission and posted truly interesting and valuable information, managing to keep this diverse blog from becoming a fluff factory and giving some real meat to its readers. It appears the blog is still accepting contributors, so if this is your thing don’t hesitate to get on board before the 99 blogging spots are gone!

Go and check out 99 Bloggers for yourself and digg it (if you like).
