Do You Digg It Week In Review

This is a busy time of year for everyone (but really, isn’t all of the year?), and so I thought it might be prudent to take a minute and review the posts and blogs we visited this week, to give you one more chance to catch onto some great blogs you might have missed.

Digg It Blog Reviews

  • Review CalendarWe started the week off with a post revisiting Sustainable Dave, the man who isn’t throwing anything away for an entire year.  As his year comes to a close, Dave is all over the major news circuits.  Check out just how popular Sustainable Dave and his mission have become!
  • From there, we stopped in at Christine Kane’s blog, where she is revolutionizing the way we do New Year’s Resolutions.
  • Then for a more traditional approach, we took a look at Tracy’s New Year’s Resolution Blog, which is actually an entire site devoted year-long to helping you prepare and achieve your resolutions.
  • As we got down to action on the first day after the New Year, we looked at Stuart Ginbey’s resources for Reprogramming the Mind for final success.
  • In our final post of the week, we visited Bradley, who is helping us get those thoughts outside our head where we can make the most of them (a motion seconded, we might add, by the very popular Benny Greenberg).

A New Week Begins

And so this concludes our week, as we saw the year 2008 out, and welcomed in 2009 with a spirit of positivity and success.  We’ll pick right back up where we left off tomorrow as we explore more of the best of the blogosphere.

Sustainable Dave Still Making News

365 Days of TrashCategory: Green Living, Environment

We first met Sustainable Dave back in August with our review of his blog, 365 Days of Trash. Back then, Dave Chameides was about mid-way through his life-project of not throwing anything away for an entire year. Now, as his year begins to near a close, Dave is drawing even more attention.

Dave’s efforts were recently the headline story on Yahoo! News. Upon searching, there are many more stories about Dave’s innovative approach to greener living. He has also been the feature of stories in Time Magazine and several others.

Proof We All Can Do Better

Dave’s year-long project stands as proof of just what he set out to show—that 1600 pounds of trash for the average family is too much, and that with some conscious effort, we all can live well, live sustainably, and leave far less of an impact on the earth behind us.

These stories are well-timed as we look back at our blog reviews from the past year. This is a great reminder that there are people like Dave Chameides out there doing great things and maintaining a high quality of modern life. It’s proof positive that sustainable living is achievable living, and something to strive for as we look to improve our lives in the coming year and preserve the planet for our children.

Revisit Dave’s blogs, and take away some new things for you to try this year. Perhaps the commitment to throw nothing away is still a bit elusive for you, but nevertheless, as Dave has worked so tirelessly to show, there is much that you can do and hardly feel a pang in he process (more likely, you’ll find multiple benefits to you your more sustainable life).

To Your Success In The New Year!

Celebrate Success!Category: Do you Digg It

Too early for New Year’s posts and resolutions? Never. It’s never too early to take a positive look back, to learn from the resources at hand, and to plan for a bigger and better future. So just as Christmas seems the right time to revisit photoblogs of past reviews, this time of year also seems the right time to revisit the many excellent success and motivational blogs that have graced the cyberpages of Do You Digg It.

Do It Myself BlogGlenda Watson Hyatt has been the focus of posts here a couple of times. She is a truly inspirational person, one succeeding far beyond the average person, despite seemingly insurmountable challenges. If ever there was a person to prove that all things are possible, it’s Glenda. Be sure to see her blog and make it a regular stoop for continued motivation throughout the year.
Successful Blog – Liz Strauss has earned her big name in blogging and success motivation. Hers is a community with arms wide-open, sharing the best of blogging and success. And somehow, Liz always finds the time to meet new bloggers and commenters, and give a personal warm welcome and note of support. Make hers the stop for support and friendship on your journey on the path of success.
Positive Thinking – Kenny McBride shows us that positive thinking is an international action! For real, down-to-earth positivity and success communication, stop by Kenny’s blog.
• Our Own Sean Rasmussen – I know it’s only been days since we overviewed Sean’s blogs, but there is no rounding up success communication blogs without mentioning his. For ongoing success motivation and lots of great motivational freebies and eBooks, Sean’s blogs are a “must stop.”

Of course, these are not at all close to being all of our success and motivation blog reviews. There have been many over the course of the year, all of which you can access through the archives and categories of personal development, motivation, and success. Spend some time here reviewing the reviews, and pick out a few to follow to keep you motivated toward even more success this year.

Wishing you the most successful year ever!

Christmas Around The World

Eiffel Tower for the HolidaysCategory: Do You Digg It, Photography

Over the past month or so our eyes were treated to a series of posts reviewing photoblogs from various points around the globe. These come to mind again with the coming of the holidays. After all, what better time of year to see the sites of the world than on Christmas Eve? No doubt this is a prime time to be following the many photoblogs from around the world to see both the well-known sites and photos of Christmas around the world on the less-beaten paths.

And so, today we go back to our photoblog reviews to visit these sites and lift our holiday spirits, visiting once again our photoblogging friends from the past weeks.

Of course there are more sites to be seen and more great photo tips to be had, so do be sure to check them all out in the Photography category.

Merry Christmas To All

Last but certainly not in the least, a heartfelt Merry Christmas to each and every one of you; Enjoy this special time and may you have the best holiday ever!

The Sean Rasmussen Family Of Blogs

Many of you know that Do You Digg It is the creation of Sean Rasmussen, a leading internet marketer and success communicator. Many of you have found Digg It through his many other works, and many of you may have been introduced to his works through mention in a select few past posts here on Digg It.

For those of you who have not become familiar with Sean’s work—and even many of you who have—you may be surprised at how extensive a network of blogs it really is. Today, as I sit here in the non-electrified silence contemplating great blogs, Sean’s came, naturally, to mind. It seems a good time to return the favor to Sean and point you on your way to his many projects and works.

SeanRasmussen.com

You’ll want to start out here, at the Daddy of them all, Sean’s personal blog. This is where he does the bulk of his work in success communication and mindset. It is also the best place to get to know Sean Rasmussen on a more personal level (visit his recent posts from Disney Hong Kong to find out why he, too, has been a little indisposed lately!).

Wealth Creation Blog

This blog deals more on the business end of things. It is a blog where Sean blogs on the topic of wealth creation, and also very much on its co-companion, success mindset and attitude. Much of this is inspired by Jamie McIntyre and the 21st Century Academy, a wealth empowerment course you can also learn more about through his 21st Century Academy blog.

SeanSeo

Over the past four or five years, Sean Rasmussen has made quite a name for himself in the world of internet marketing, giving up the rat race to live a more profitable and free lifestyle—the best of all worlds! Graciously, Sean shares his collected and tried knowledge with other budding internet marketers through his SeanSEO blog, as well as a number of others.

Stocks And Investing

Some of the strategies that have made Sean the success that he is now are the share and stock market investing strategies he learned through Jamie McIntyre and others. You can learn about these in his blogs Planet Wealth Stock Market Blog and BullHunter’s Guide.

Still More!

Believe it or not, this is not a conclusive list of Sean’s blogging efforts. There are even still more to find and enjoy and learn from. You can see the full list on Sean Rasmussen’s Blog Catalog page.

Sean’s blogs have been a too-well kept secret around here for far too long. Enjoy some time this week choosing amongst Sean’s excellent blog projects, and enjoy a prosperous New Year!

Reviewing Early Excellence

Category: Do You Digg It

Early on, while Digg It was just getting its start, we had reviewed many excellent blogs. In fact, those high-quality blogs were the very ones that gave Do You Digg It its great start, and grew it into the blog it is today (one that we hope will continue to grow and gain more attention). It occurred to me, though, in my many spare hours to sit and think, that since the blog was new, and still building its readership base, these great blogs could easily have been looked over. And so it seems a good time to go back and look at some of our earliest blog reviews, so that none of you miss out on any of these motivational, inspirational, or innovative blogs.

Anges bizAnge’s Biz – The one that started it all. Ange Recchia is a motivational force of blogging, another Aussie dynamo to lift your spirits.
Ya-ttitude! - Benny Greenberg does motivation like no other. One of our most popular blog reviews to date, you do not want to miss this one!
99 Bloggers – Alfafoobar created 99 Bloggers as a collaborative effort where up to 99 bloggers of different interests and backgrounds could some together in a cohesive mix to blog on topics of interest to them and the blog’s readers. It’s a top-notch blog forging its own path, a place to visit regularly to learn on a wide variety of interesting topics (you might even see our own Sean Rasmussen there!).

These are only a few of the great blogs that deserve your attention. There were many others that you’ll want to explore, so do be sure to check out the archives and categories to find the best blogs you may never have known about!

Living In The Past

Category: Do You Digg It

Surely if you are one of our blog subscribers you have noticed a marked decline in blog reviews this week. This is what happens when the past meets the future, and Mother Nature collides with modern services and conveniences.

Blame It On The Weather

Depending on where you are and how much of the news you watch, you may or may not be aware that much of New England, where I live, was hit with a “once in a lifetime” ice storm late last week—Thursday night into early Friday. In just the span of about 12 hours, somewhere upwards of 150,000 people lost power and service to their homes; that figure is probably grossly inaccurate, seeing as how I have been effectively cut off from the outside world and my grasp at the news is spotty at best. In fact, I do think that figure is one calculated after many people had been restored.

I, however, have still not been restored to the 21st Century. We did finally see one of the very hard-working electric repair crews on our road yesterday, giving us a glimmer of hope, only to have those hopes dashed when they informed us that even though they were repairing our lines, the high tension lines that service our circuit are badly damaged, and will require days’ more work before they can transmit electricity to the residential lines. Saturday is our estimated fair optimistic target for restored services, although it sounded a tenuous estimation at best. And with 6 to 12 inches of snow coming in on Friday, the chances for delayed repairs only continue to grow.

That’s My Story, I’m Sticking To It

Thus explains my absence in the world of blog review this week. As I can, I travel towns away to relatives who are lucky enough to live in the year 2008 and usurp their electricity and services, and charge up my laptop batteries for a couple hours’ worth of work in the morning darkness. If I sound bitter, well, the novelty of the pioneering lifestyle is beginning to wear off. I’m ready for a nice hot soak in a tub and a handy internet connection once again. Soon, in the grand scheme of things, it’ll come, so we’re doing our best to stay positive, glad that our wood heat and gas services make for fairly comfortable living otherwise.

In the mean time, don’t pity me, we’re all just fine, and so much better off than so many others—some who may not see service until a week after Christmas! While I’m here I have it in mind to look back through our older posts and draw attention to some much deserving blogs once again, some we you may have missed or that we may not have heard from in a while. I hope you enjoy this look into the past as I experience historic living first hand!

Where Are The Best Blogging Communities

I would think (hope) that there will be lots of answers to this question.

Across the internet and blogosphere, it seems there are some networks and platforms that are much more than what they appear; but sometimes you only get to know about these if you are a member of the platform or community itself. That stands to reason, because really how can you be a part of a community without being an active participant in it in some way—either as a frequent visitor or fellow blogger?

Community Magnets

Community MagnetsNevertheless, it seems some places tend to create more of a community than others. The more time I spend looking around Blogger blogs, the more I think that Blogger is one of those spaces. There is always a web weaving from one blog to another (a web that often provides me with many of the subsequent blogs for review). The more I review, the more I find these links looping back upon each other—and no, not always from their original spots. In fact, I’m surprised at the frequency of coming back to a blog weeks after the fact from a seemingly unrelated blog.

Sometimes it is the network that really builds that sense of community across interests—b5 media comes to mind once again. Of course, the best bloggers are masters at this, since community really is what blogs are all about.

It does seem, though, for whatever reason, that some places build communities more easily than others. Who knows why that may be (although if you have an idea—do share!). Being that blogging is as much about the people as the topic, it’s an interesting subject to explore. It’s also a great idea to share those places that do attract a sense of community. I’d very much like to hear where you find the best blog-related communities to be.

What Do You Think?

Comment below, and tell us, where are the best blog communities on the web (platform, network, or singular blog—anything goes!)?
