Minding Our Elders

Minding Our Elders author Carol Bradley Bursack came into care giving the way many people do—accidentally and unprepared. For Carol the role became one that lasted for more than 20 years. Along the way she became quite an expert in the area of care giving and, like Elizabeth of GenBetween, of walking the line as a “sandwiched” caregiver.

Minding Our Elders - Why You Should Go

Carol Bradley Bursack learned many lessons the hard way throughout her various and competing roles. One of the most obvious lessons she learned was that had she been a little better prepared and had better systems of support in place her role could needn’t have been as hard as it was; which is not to say there is no difficulty in being a caregiver to the elderly or a member of the sandwich generation, it is only to say that she sees very clearly how her experience can contribute to the health and well-being of others in similar circumstances. What Carol has done is use her experience to benefit others—in the form of this blog, and also as a columnist and author of a similarly titled book.

Summing Up Minding Our Elders

Great resources are essential for anyone, and especially for those who serve the very important roles of caregiver (at any age). With aging populations this is becoming more and more true. Carol Bradley Bursack’s blog and writings may be one of the most comprehensive resources available for this audience, and so serves an increasingly important role itself.

Cooking With Anne

Food is one of life’s simplest pleasures. But enjoying good food seems so hard sometimes, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a place where you could chat with a friendly face, enjoy the passion of another, and learn once and for all how to prepare and enjoy good food easier? Wouldn’t you love your own personal guide to the realistic culinary life?

Lucky for you (and for me) there is such a place, right here on the world wide web. That place? Cooking With Anne.

Cooking With Anne - Why You Should Go

Anne is our guide to the livable culinary world at her blog, Cooking With Anne. She is a stay-at-home-mom with a serious need for good, healthy food‚Äîshe’s got 7 mouths to feed and keep happy! That can’t be an easy task, but somehow Anne does it with flair and style. She offers mouth-watering posts that span the exotic to the everyday, including recipes for such treats as Fried Squash Blossoms (who knew?) and Strawberry Milkshake Popsicles.

Anne really loves what she does and it shows. She treats us to photos and tales from her garden as she teaches us how to enjoy foods from all over the world, and also locally-grown fair that’s fresh and green.

We found Anne here at Cooking with Anne, but there are other places to find her, too. She is also a writer for Disney at Short Order Mom, and keeps interested readers up to date with the more personal side of her life at The Rest of Me (incidentally, Anne and her family have gone through some serious trauma in the past year; you’ll find her blog even more impressive and inspiring when you learn more about her and find out just how impressive her cooking and blogging talents are when weighed against the rest of her life!).

Summing Up Cooking With Anne

Enjoying good, fresh food should not be something that only haughty, arrogant Chefs from Hell should enjoy. Great food is something everyone should know, and Anne makes it possible for the regular guy or girl to do that. She teaches as she expands our culinary horizons, and does much of the work for us as she explores and experiments, and then reports back with the best of what she finds.

Kitchen Table Medicine

Kitchen Table Medicine is the work of Dr. Nicole Sundene, a Naturopathic physician (yes, a real doctor giving out real advice!), and her team of colleagues and contributors which includes a naturopath, a personal trainer, a Doctor of Philosophy and Psychotherapist, and a “Happiness Expert” with a law degree from Yale. It’s an impressive mix of minds and a place where you can learn from real, credentialed experts to feed your mind, body, and spirit in ever-better and healthier ways.

Kitchen Table Medicine - Why You Should Go

Kitchen Table Medicine is a blog with the potential to help you live better in all aspects of life, including “tips for natural, healthy, organic, sustainable, good green living” and more. The primary contributor is the creator, Dr. Nicole Sundene, who posts on a regular basis and lends information and guidance to those looking to live and feel better, naturally. She is accompanied by her professional team of contributors who post on topics of self improvement, fitness, exercise, and other health-related topics for everything from managing depression to overcoming the fatigue of cancer treatments and natural detox diets.

What’s great about Kitchen Table Medicine is that it is not another health blog that doesn’t really give advice. This blog (which of course offers its own healthy dose of disclaimers and advisement for personal professional attention by qualified health professionals) details the foods, diets, practices, and products that you can use to live better. It raises all the issues related to living better, including knowing what to use, how to use it and when, and what to change psychologically to incorporate real, lasting, healthy change; and it offers a platform where people can ask and learn of qualified natural health professionals, and get real responses to questions (and participate in Dr. Nicole’s poll to tell her what you want her to write about).

Summing Up Kitchen Table Medicine

Kitchen Table Medicine is an easier way to learn about living better in sync with nature. It’s a way to become more familiar with natural living without being overwhelmed by all there is to learn. Dr. Nicole and company present the information in small, understandable, digestible pieces, and cover all the bases for successful healthy living. If you could benefit by learning to live better and more naturally, pay Dr. Nicole a blog-call.

Go check out Kitchen Table Medicine.
