Living With MS

We have featured a few blogs here at Digg it from people dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. Each blogger has been at a different stage of the disease and is experiencing different levels of challenge and life change; but what is compelling about these blogs and these bloggers is the spirit and attitude of positivity and of living with the disease, not letting the disease live their lives for them. This is another such blog and an equally spirited blogger.

Living With MS - Why You Should Go

Blogger ‘Blinders Off’ is living with MS, but not letting it become her life. She understands she is first and foremost a person, and secondly a person dealing with a diagnosis. On her blog she blogs about life and life with MS, from the everyday things we can all relate to—like quitting smoking and healthcare reform and expense—to the things that are more specific to people with MS (including, even, news and information you might not know about, like scholarships for teens with MS).

This is the blog of Karie, a woman whose husband was wounded in Iraq just three months after they were married. She shares the struggles of coping with a recovering husband who has had both physical and emotional challenges since his tour in Iraq. Karie brings an interesting perspective on the war and how military families cope.

Karie’s perspective reminds us that it is not just the soldiers that are affected by war, but that entire families feel the strain of dealing with the aftermath of war, particularly when soldiers are wounded. Her Friday Faces of War column is particularly interesting.  Throughout the blog, Karie shares the challenges and triumphs of a life not quite what she’d envisioned, and remains brutally and commendably honest and open.

Bad Behavior is primarily the personal blog of web designer Chelsey Bishop. Though Chelsey does let you in on her personal life, she also posts some pretty cool general health and information tips.

Bad Behavior is a good read, particularly if you’re into reading blogs. Chelsey is a good writer and posts some humorous stuff along with some good general information and tips. It’s a particularly good site for any woman who loves makeup and other girly stuff as much as the author does; she keeps you updated on good sales for these as well.

Summing Up Bad Behavior

Bad Behavior is one of the better personal blogs out there. The author is likeable and enjoys keeping her readers informed. She is clearly a talented web designer. Her blog would be particularly appealing to other bloggers for tips and inspiration for their own site. However, a good bit of the site is purely personal and may only be interesting to the author’s friends–or the new friends that she makes through it :).

Every time we start talking about exceptional people with special needs and exceptional skills, my mind goes back to Glenda Watson Hyatt of the Do It Myself Blog.  And so, I thought this was a good time to check up on Glenda and what she’s been doing.

Still Glenda

For those of you who are not familiar with Glenda, aka the “Left Thumb Blogger,” take some time to get to know this inspiring woman.  Glenda has cerebral palsy and has been categorized by doctors as being “non-verbal,” but her blog definitely proves otherwise!

I’m happy to report that Glenda is still every bit Glenda, still cracking jokes and working away, putting the rest of us to shame.  She is currently working on her presentation for SOBCon 2009 and taking up the battle of making the internet and social networking sites accessible to people with all types of disabilities, not just those with visual impairments as so often seems to be the case.

Glenda continues to be one of the most inspiring bloggers around.  Revisit this old Digg It favorite for a healthy dose of knowledge and inspiration, and a great many laughs, too!
