Intrepid Ideas is a blog with a mission. That mission is, in part, to “…spread some fresh courageous ideas through this blog as well as create a somewhat cryptic archive of my travels and thoughts. Through music, media, and prose, I hope to stimulate thought - exercise my creative side - and solicit feedback from the human race. Most importantly, I hope to realize some sort of growth from this experience.” To this end it has been a great success. The blog offers a diversity of posts from the philosophical to the political, all offered as insightful rather than inciteful. That is to say, the blog is not an effort to sway politically, but rather to induce thoughtful consideration of all subjects broached.

Yoga For Cynics

Categorizing Yoga For Cynics was one of the hardest parts of writing this review (and perhaps I’ve still gotten it wrong). Capturing the essence of what the blog is was a close second place. So what is Yoga For Cynics?

Dr Jay Winston, the author, describes it as this: “possibly having something to do with yoga, cynicism, writing, politics, coffee, things to do while drinking coffee, art, music, the great outdoors, the great indoors, the not-so-great outdoors and indoors, drugs, and/or life in general, or maybe not.”

If you are still unsure the one thing to be sure of is that you are not alone; Yoga for Cynics is something of a “see it to believe it” experience where you have to visit and experience the blog for yourself before you can really figure out what it is.

At first take you might assume this to be a place of negativity and bad attitude; upon further reading you are more likely to see it as a place for thought and contemplation. That doesn’t mean contemplating cynicism, either; it’s more like a way of overcoming cynicism by stretching the mind to see all the possibilities.

What you get out of Dr. Jay’s blog will rely a lot on what you put into it; if you visit with only seconds to spare you may only scratch the surface of his random, deep thought process. If you go ready for a challenge you will exercise your brain even more, and delve deeper into the heart of the issue and to what it means to you. Yoga requires a bit more of your time and commitment, so choose wisely when you visit, and know that you’ll get something out of it for whatever you are able to put in.

If you find yourself feeling increasingly like one lost in the crowd of politics and opinion, one whose voice and interests are neither heard nor reflected in politics or society today, it my be time for your own Identity Check. Getting back to the core of who you are might be tough given the many voices we hear through mainstream media, but this blog by Anok just might help.

Identity Check - Why You Should Go

If you were looking for a concise explanation of what Identity Check is you might label it as political commentary. Not one for the confines of labeling, though, Anok might balk at such a short and sweet explanation of this blog (however in the interest of communication, we’d expect to be forgiven this once). And Anok would be right to hesitate to accept that narrow a labeling of this blog, as it is really more.

Anok is self-described as a person ready for a social and governmental change; not a strict anarchist, but apparently looking for something better than the current state of affairs. The person, and it would appear the blog too, is “constantly growing and changing.” Posts range from insightful consideration of current affairs to humorous posts, to political analysis, analysis of the issues, and respectful debate.

Summing Up Identity Check

Anok is a person with passion, but not one so passionate that readers are alienated from the blog. Respect and meaningful debate are central to Identity Check, and indeed it enjoys a healthy community of commentary; and Anok welcomes it all—supporters and detractors—with grace. Agree or disagree, but consider Anok’s researched and meaningful posts for the food for thought that they offer. In the interest of being concise again, as one commenter put it, this blog provides “good stuff to chew on.”

There’s not much to tell about Monkey Suit, the author of the Random Political Thoughts And News blog, because we don’t have an ‘About’ page to go on. But we can at least talk about what the blog and its community is‚Äîwhich is pretty much as the blog’s name indicates.

Random Political Thoughts And News - Why You Should Go

Random is a good way to describe this blog‚Äîit’s a hit or miss mix-up of political news and some commentary. No political person or subject is safe, and any may be the next to appear atop the blog. From Presidential hopefuls to election predictions, to media and industry experts and policies‚Äîyou never know who will get Monkey Suit fired up.

While Monkey Suit does interject with his own insight and opinions, he also presents a lot of food for thought. Some of the news is nothing new, but talked about from angles you might not have considered or understood, and some of it is stuff you might have missed. But agree or disagree, there’s enough there to fuel your thought and motivate you into caring a little more about a country and an issue you may have disregarded as being something you could do little about anyway.

Naturally a political blog is a place open for discussion. Visitor comments have been kept civil and insightful‚Äîa nice feature for a political blog‚Äîand offer further insight and consideration. The benefit here is that you can read and learn and discuss with a community, and not just follow it because you agree with the author. Hopefully that’s an aspect that Monkey Suit can maintain as the blog continues to grow.
