Quotes…In Our Own Words

Sometimes the best blog concepts come from the simplest of ideas, as we’ve seen with blogs like Comical Comments and the like, and as we are about to see with Quotes…In Our Own Words (yes, this is about to be one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” moments).

Quotes…In Our Own Words is a blog that takes the inspirational quote just a step further, and turns it into not only a motivational tool, but also a subject of thoughtful discussion.

Quotes…In Our Own Words - Why You Should Go

Dexter the Quote Guy is a person who just “likes to spread a positive word.” And like most people, he finds that one of the most direct and meaningful ways to do that it to borrow the words of those who have said it best—the people from history and modern times who have produced the most concise, pointed, and hard-hitting quotes to inspire and teach.

What Dexter has done with these quotes on his blog is used them as a launching-point for discussion and positive thinking. With each post Dexter delivers one or a few quotes of interest (and from time to time stories and links of importance to make a difference in the world). He then talks a little about what each means to him, and opens the floor for discussion and growth among his readers. His inspiration grew from an interest in the Law of Attraction, and so his theme follows much along the same lines towards success, fulfillment, and positive living.

Summing Up Quotes…In Our Own Words

Sometimes the best way to say something is to let someone who’s already said it best say it all. And sometimes the way to make that into more is to share it and add a few thoughts of your own. That is what Dexter has done on his blog, a place where you can go for a regular fix of positive thinking.

A Real Way To Approach Positive Thinking

Positive Thinking

“Deep,” “uplifting,” “inspirational,” “blessed,” are all words used to describe Kenny McBride and his blog, Positive Thinking – A Realistic Approach (which officially enters our ranks as our first blog from Scotland—congratulations, Kenny!). What is it that people are talking about? It is the realistic, life-centered, practical approach that Kenny uses to help people form their lives into one that is more positive and content.

Positive Thinking - Why You Should Go

These descriptive words from Kenny’s bloggers say a lot. Positive Thinking is worth your while because it does present realistic ways to maximize your life through positive thinking. Kenny’s approach is not entirely unique, but his realization of why this works just might be. He says, “Failing to accomplish your goals is a common trait. The reason for this is your approach to goal setting. Planning your goals around the life you have will ensure you get to the life you want, it’s just a simple strategy of one step at a time.”

Kenny’s advice and posts are very much grounded in starting at the point you are at to build a pathway to success that always includes you and the life you are living, and not just focus on a future far away. It’s a concept shared on various levels with other success coaches and experts, but one that may this time be communicated in a way you haven’t considered; perhaps one that you can connect with more easily.

Summing Up Positive Thinking

Kenny McBride shares some proven concepts on his blog, but puts things in terms and perspectives that make it easy to relate and implement. As he says, if you need, or “know someone who needs a little help in their life…tell a friend about this blog” and see if it’s not the one that finally makes simple sense of positive living for you.

From EHarmony To Red Pine Mountain

Red Pine MountainRed Pine Mountain

In the quiet of the Red Pine Mountaintop in the US Northeast Kingdom, more commonly known as the US state of Vermont, is a transplanted southern girl who writes about finding love and a new life on the world wide web. That girl is Mountain Woman, who uses her blog as a place to show that love really is possible on the internet, and that healing from the past is possible, too.

Red Pine Mountain - Why You Should Go

Red Pine Mountain is best categorized as a personal blog, but it is also in part a lifestyle blog, as many posts illustrate the way of life of the northern mountain-dweller. The blog is more than, that, too. It is also Mountain Woman’s place of positivity and expression; “I focus on issues that are important to me and my personal growth. I try to be positive and this blog is a reflection of my point of view. I do know there are people who find this way of thinking unrealistic; syrupy, I’ve even heard it called, but if I allow myself to get mired in negativity, I won’t accomplish my goals. Every problem becomes insurmountable and the smallest step forward impossible.”

To this end Mountain Woman writes about topics such as faith and religion (including her journey from forced-childhood religion to disbelief and back to true faith again), love, the effects of negativity on the world, the stories of her life and reflections on life in general. These are stories that are offered in the spirit of camaraderie and sharing, not to preach or teach, but simply to discuss.

Summing Up Red Pine Mountain

Mountain Woman writes with care. She is open with her readers and respectful of opinions, truly welcoming her community into her life. Hers is a blog to read if you find yourself in need of a place to enjoyably contemplate life, or are in search of a friendly spirit to connect with on the web.

Where Are All The Negative Reviews?

I promised that we’d start up a bit of conversation here and there, so as to invite even more community and conversation, and to give you a few ideas of what motivates this blog. So here we go…

Do You Ever Have Anything Bad To Say?

One of the comments that we’ve gotten here on this blog and in talk of it around the net is that there appear to be no negative reviews. Why is that?

While we understand that creating controversy is a sure-fire way to get people talking, we also think there is enough of it without our adding to the buzz. So instead of telling you our opinion of why a blog isn’t worth your time, we prefer to focus on the good that’s out there, and make sure that those are the blogs that get their due. This is in part an effort to avoid that phenomenon wherein negative publicity ends up being a better traffic-generator than good publicity. You know how it goes—say something negative about anyone or anything, and people have to flock to find out what you’re talking about, to get in on the controversy. It’s hard to resist.

Rather than send you all off to blogs that just don’t deserve the attention, whether for a lack of content or style or grace, we’d rather appreciate the better blogs for what they offer and promote those instead. So when we come across a lackluster blog, we simply move on to something more worthwhile, more worth your time (and ours). Anyone who knows Sean Rasmussen, who created Digg It, knows that he is all about positivity and fulfillment, so it would be quite contrary to his being to start up a review of the worst of the web!

Does That Mean We All Agree?

So if there are no negative reviews here, does that mean we expect that we will all always agree?

That would be a fruitless effort, wouldn’t it? No, we entirely understand that we all have different tastes, different interests, and different opinions. We also understand that your time has plenty of demands upon it, so what you choose to read on a regular basis as a group will be highly variable. You may disagree with a review you see here, and that’s your privilege (we do ask that we keep the site civil though!). As reviewers we try to keep an open mind and see the value in blogs beyond our own personal opinions, so as to present our reading community with a diverse array of blogs that span many topics, categories, and interests.

That being said, many of the blogs reviewed have been recommended by you, our readers, and many others have been located through your comments and blog rolls, so it is very often the case that we enjoy a high level of agreement among our readers.

We continue to strive here to make this a blog that is useful and interesting; our comments are open to you below, and we welcome your comments, constructive criticisms, and, of course, your blog review recommendations.

Thanks for being a part of our community, and thanks for continuing to read Do You Digg It!

Where Faith And Belief Divide

Original FaithWhere to Find Original Faith:

Original Faith

There are many blogs, books, and resources that deal with the nature and topic of spirituality and religion. But there are few that deal with that topic at its most fundamental level—at the level of personal faith and meaning, regardless of religious or spiritual affiliation. One of the select few people who is dealing with this fundamental is Paul M. Martin, author of Original Faith (which is altogether a personal life experience, a book, and blog).

Original Faith - Why You Should Go

Original Faith is the culmination of a lifetime of experience, reflection, and research. But unlike the majority of faith-based initiatives this is not one that started in religion. On the contrary, Paul M. Martin started his journey because of his lack of religion—but still ever-present system of personal belief.

What ultimately occurred to Paul is that although he was not a particularly religious being, he was still a spiritual one. He was still a person of faith even though he was not a person with categorical beliefs. This made him understand that people are, fundamentally, spiritual or faithful, and that there is true power in being cognizant of that and of embracing the power of faith for what it is. It is this strong faith that has brought Paul through both good times and bad (including a debilitating disease from which he still suffers and which has severely limited his physical abilities), and helped him realize the power within—the power of personal spirituality and positivity.

Summing Up Original Faith

Original Faith is a place where anyone, with any degree of religious or spiritual belief, or even a complete lack of it, will feel welcome as they explore their own personal experience. As Paul says, his blog is a space “where respect for all viewpoints on religion is a spiritual passion.” It would seem this includes as well a complete lack of religious belief. More than anything this is a place for respectful exploration and discussion. Like others, it’s not a place of answers; it’s a place of enlightenment and perhaps a little guidance; a place for “Finding the interfaith soul of progressive religion and spirituality.”

A Boost For Positive Living

Positive CommunicationWhere to Find Positive Communication:

Positive Communication

Positive Communication‚Äîsounds like something the world needs more of, doesn’t it? Without argument we all get enough of the negativity that’s out there, and after a time it begins to infect one of our most cherished and basic abilities‚Äîcommunication.

Similar to Proof Positivity, Positive Communication is a blog that highlights the best of the world’s news and actions. As the author, Ellen Janssens, describes it, “This blog is a Tribute to the Positive News. To Positive Action, People and Possibilities that Make a Difference. To social campaigns that use Positive Communication, focusing on what people can do.”

Positive Communication - Why You Should Go

The news highlights that Ellen offers are uplifting, but the author goes much further than the news feeds. Each post is accompanied by a thoughtful summary and discussion.

But not all posts here are news links; far from it. There are also posts of inspiration quoting and discussing many of the greatest and most inspiring authors, poets, and musicians. In addition, the blog is filled with inspirational quotes and snippets to keep you going in the positive way.

Summing Up Positive Communication

Ellen Janssens has identified a true need of the world’s societies‚Äîto remember our wealth as people and as a larger society, and to value all that is good in life‚Äîand support it. Her blog is one to stop through for daily inspiration, a place to relax and appreciate each and every day, if only for a few minutes. Go here when you are in need of some positive vibes (and as Ellen says‚Äî”well, who doesn’t??)

A (Positive) Blog For The Kids

Proof PositivityWhere to Find Proof Positivity:
Blog URL: http://proofpositivity.blogspot.com/
Category: Motivation, Charitable Giving

Proof Positivity

Proof Positivity is a blog with a mission much higher than gaining a following. It’s the collective effort of contributing writers Amber, Ark of Hope for Children, and Nardeesims with the purpose of highlighting positive news to help “‚Ķchildren of all ages to find their voice through positive news.”

Proof Positivity - Why You Should Go

One reason to go is to support this worthy cause and the worthy causes that are also supported through it. The blog was created not only to shed more light on the good news that is out there, but to use that outlet as a way to support children’s education and well-being. The primary mission is this:

“For every child to have an opportunity to write or report no matter what their grades are.” The reasoning behind that is, “A child sometimes needs to develop a love for something before they are motivated enough to bring their grades up.”

That mission is achieved through sponsorship and presumably website visits, and also through shopping and purchase opportunities provided directly from the site. The funds collected will go towards funding classroom studios that will be used to accomplish that goal of giving every child the opportunity to explore and write about what they see.

That in itself is enough of a reason to go, but there is even more. In addition to the primary mission there are many needful individuals and causes that are highlighted. The news sources themselves lead to many deserving causes. On a more basic level, perhaps the simplest reason to go is to see that there is good news out there worth reading; this is a place that compiles them in one place, without the negative news that is the norm through traditional media channels.

Summing Up Proof Positivity

Blogs exist for many reasons, be they educational or entertaining. And all of these take time and dedication to maintain. Few people give so much of themselves for no personal gain (save the gain of satisfaction). Proof Positivity is one that does. It is a place of positivity, as it strives to be, and also a place with a purpose. You can feel good about yourself when you visit a place like Proof Positivity.
