Dad’s House

Single parenting from the female perspective is only one side of the story; and an excellent place to see things from the other side is at Dad’s House, a blog maintained by single father David Mott.

Dad’s House - Why You Should Go

David Mott describes himself and his blog as a “divorced single dad offering stories, tips, and expert advice on single parenting, two-home families, and relationships formed in an age of online dating, text messaging, friends with benefits, hookups, and booty calls.”

If that sounds like a lot for one person to take on, particularly a person raising two active and busy children and sharing custody half-time, it is. Still, this blog really is all of that and even more. It’s an entire community and support system in and of itself with an impressive voice and following. From dating to childrearing, Dad’s House takes it all on, creating a very comprehensive resource for its audience (Hey! Recipes included!).

Summing Up Dad’s House

To say Dad’s House is a blog just for single dads would be a gross misstatement. It is really a blog for all single parents, a community where moms and dads—parents—from all walks of life come together to learn and grow, discuss, and support.

Drinks After Dark

Somehow reviews for drink- and cocktail-inspired blogs just seem so fitting for the weekends. By now few of us probably have much energy left for complex intellectual blogs, and are no doubt open to blogs that help us wind down and enjoy the after hours a little more. In the past we’ve reviewed beer blogs and wine blogs, but today we take a broader vision to a blog that covers a bit of it all. Colleen Coplick’s Drinks After Dark offers a wider range including cocktails, beers, and wines.

Drinks After Dark - Why You Should Go

Drinks After Dark isn’t just about drink recipes, it’s about anything and everything related to drinks of choice and cocktails. That includes cooking with beer and wine, posts about how to buy and enjoy various drinks and liquors, gadgets and collector’s items, reviews, and stories about cocktails in the news. There’s really a lot more to know than you might imagine, and this blog is an informative and interesting resource.

Summing Up Drinks After Dark

There’s something for everyone at Colleen’s place, where the drink talk flows freely and the conversation is relaxing. Pick your passion and join in, make some friends and come away with a new appreciation and enjoyment of the world of Drinks After Dark.

Cooking With Anne

Food is one of life’s simplest pleasures. But enjoying good food seems so hard sometimes, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a place where you could chat with a friendly face, enjoy the passion of another, and learn once and for all how to prepare and enjoy good food easier? Wouldn’t you love your own personal guide to the realistic culinary life?

Lucky for you (and for me) there is such a place, right here on the world wide web. That place? Cooking With Anne.

Cooking With Anne - Why You Should Go

Anne is our guide to the livable culinary world at her blog, Cooking With Anne. She is a stay-at-home-mom with a serious need for good, healthy food‚Äîshe’s got 7 mouths to feed and keep happy! That can’t be an easy task, but somehow Anne does it with flair and style. She offers mouth-watering posts that span the exotic to the everyday, including recipes for such treats as Fried Squash Blossoms (who knew?) and Strawberry Milkshake Popsicles.

Anne really loves what she does and it shows. She treats us to photos and tales from her garden as she teaches us how to enjoy foods from all over the world, and also locally-grown fair that’s fresh and green.

We found Anne here at Cooking with Anne, but there are other places to find her, too. She is also a writer for Disney at Short Order Mom, and keeps interested readers up to date with the more personal side of her life at The Rest of Me (incidentally, Anne and her family have gone through some serious trauma in the past year; you’ll find her blog even more impressive and inspiring when you learn more about her and find out just how impressive her cooking and blogging talents are when weighed against the rest of her life!).

Summing Up Cooking With Anne

Enjoying good, fresh food should not be something that only haughty, arrogant Chefs from Hell should enjoy. Great food is something everyone should know, and Anne makes it possible for the regular guy or girl to do that. She teaches as she expands our culinary horizons, and does much of the work for us as she explores and experiments, and then reports back with the best of what she finds.
